IF YOU PLAN TO MARCH:
The City of
Chicago and the Chicago Police Department respect your
First Amendment Rights.
It is our honor and our responsibility to ensure
your right to demonstrate
and speak freely today in a reasonable time,
place and manner which
ensures public safety -- yours as well as others.
So that you can exercise
your First Amendment rights safely, the City of
Chicago has provided
the following route for a march:
At 1:00 p.m.,
proceed from the Federal Plaza north on Dearborn
Street to Wacker Drive.
Proceed west on Wacker Drive one block
to Clark Street. Proceed
south on Clark Street to the Federal Plaza.
If necessary, we will
block off traffic for your safety.
A permit has been denied
for any other route, including State Street and
Michigan Avenue. Therefore,
a march down State Street or Michigan
Avenue is unlawful.
You are notified of the unlawfulness and directed
to disperse from these
streets at once.
In addition, time is
of the essence. You will have a limited window of
time in which to conduct
the march.
