Trump signs Executive Order further Undermining Obamacare

Just this morning Trump spoke about his new executive order that will give us the best Healthcare because Obamacare is so bad. He was so excited about how good this new care is that he almost forgot to sign the Exec. Order and started to walk away. V.P. Pence had to stop him.

With the failure by Republicans in Congress to repeal Obamacare this year, President Trump is taking matters into his own hands, signing an executive order Thursday that targets the health care law.

Trump is asking federal agencies to look for ways to expand the use of association health plans, groups of small businesses that pool together to buy health insurance, and to broaden the definition of short-term insurance, which is exempt from the Affordable Care Act’s rules, administration officials said.

The ultimate impact will depend on any new regulations written as a result of the order, but overall, the Trump administration could make cheaper plans with skimpier benefits more available — and experts worry that will damage the ACA’s marketplaces.

“The president still firmly believes that Congress must act to repeal and replace Obamacare, but before that can be done, this administration must act to provide relief,” Andrew Bremberg, who oversees domestic policy at the White House, told reporters Thursday morning. “We expect these policy changes to potentially benefit tens of millions of Americans over time.”

Policy experts warn that together, these changes could represent a serious threat to Obamacare: Trump wants to open more loopholes for more people to buy insurance outside the health care law’s markets, which experts anticipate would destabilize the market for customers who are left behind with higher premiums and fewer insurers.     As the first of many J20 conspiracy case trials draws to a close, we have a lot to catch you up on. Sorry for the delay with this update… it turns out that fighting state repression is exhausting.

    First, a sliver of good news. On Wednesday, December 13th, during a hearing on a motion for judgement of aquittal, Judge Lynn Leibovitz She stated that there was no evidence that any of these defendants were “leaders or organizers” but claimed that even simply yelling “stay together” or “keep moving” – normal utterances in a protest – could be reasonable proof of the charge. One less felony, but during the hearing, the judge maintained that all the other charges were reasonable within the law. While welcome news, the inciting a riot charge remains against 180 other defendants.

    The complete lack of evidence to convict these defendants on the count of incitement under any interpretation of the law shows the prosecution’s commitment to aggressively pursuing all of these charges to . . .

  10. Hi guys,

    I wasn’t completely honest the other day when I posted about Toni. When I called her, she had just found out she has advanced lung cancer. She’s been moved from the hospital to a hospice facility. I don’t have the location yet.

    Michele talked to her last and got the update about going to hospice. Michele wrote Sam to let him know and he replied immediately with a heartfelt message to Toni which I should be able to share with you shortly.

    I’m at a loss of “good” words. There aren’t good enough words that I know to honor her. I never anticipated this day coming. Our extended blog family has migrated to different places but the common thread is still there and that thread is Toni. None of us worked 1/10 as much as she did to keep on top of things. She never stopped, never.

    Presently she’s understandably not in a frame of mind to talk much. She has friends and family with her taking care of her.

    I’ll post back her when I know more but you all should have my contact info. If not chris@bluerootsradio.com is still good for email.

  18. I just posted this on FB and wanted to share here as well:

    Just had a long chat with Toni. She is resting comfortably, with one little issue, her bed isn’t working correctly and b/c of the holidays there’s a skeleton crew and no one to fix it. Other than that they are keeping her comfortable and she’s getting plenty of visits from her grandsons, nephews, friends and neighbors.

    First thing I did was to read her the email from Sam Seder and then when she thought that was all, I played the clip of him mentioning her on Friday’s show. She was already in pretty good spirits but I think Sam’s stuff boosted her a lot.

    She’s itching to get up and move around having been stuck in bed for a week but isn’t sure when that will happen. She sounded a lot more like her old self today.

    She wanted me to tell everyone that she’s thinking about you, she sends her love and wants everyone to have a very Merry Christmas.

    She says she’s up for more calls (we talked about 30 minutes) so I’ll check back in tomorrow and post another update.

    She had a very full Christmas Day with one visitor after another, almost too much of a good thing!

    She sounded better today but still is stuck on a mostly liquid diet, so that has to be torture for a lover of good food like Toni.

    Everyone is seeing to her needs and has stocked her cabinets full of things she asked for.
    We talked about our families and family history. We didn’t talk any politics, why ruin a perfectly good Christmas Day? She sends her love and best wishes and hopes everyone had a great Christmas.

    Today she was not having a good day. I didn’t recognize her on the phone and had to ask “Is this Toni?” She was very confused, drifting in and out, but she did say to send her love to everyone. We talked maybe 10 minutes but this is all I can tell you.

    I learned later that they think it’s gotten to the brain. I’m sad to say it may be down to hoping for an easy passing. 💔

    In this interview, the president* is only intermittently coherent. He talks in semi-sentences and is always groping for something that sounds familiar, even if it makes no sense whatsoever and even if it blatantly contradicts something he said two minutes earlier. To my ears, anyway, this is more than the president*’s well-known allergy to the truth. This is a classic coping mechanism employed when language skills are coming apart…

Then, the two principals in the firm that engaged Steele’s services wrote a savage op-ed denouncing the Republican efforts to investigate the investigators as a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a sham of two mockeries of a sham.

    Now, it appears, the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are so dedicated to protecting a dangerously incompetent president that they’re willing to do almost anything. Grassley is just an old crank having fun in his legislative dotage, but the conversion of Lindsey Graham into a Southern-fried Lewandowski has been a dark wonder to behold. I’m not an adherent to conspiracies about kompromat but, Jesus H. Christ on a covert wiretap, this transformation cannot be explained by conventional political science…
